The Principle of Advkit Para Legal Services is Mike Dixon-McIver who first became involved in advocacy in 1992. In 1994 he founded the Beneficiaries Advocacy and Protection Society Inc. and was the foundation President. The Society has since changed its title to the peoples Advocacy And Protection Society.

The Society is primarily involved in advocacy for beneficiaries at WINZ and other government departments such as Inland Revenue and Corrections etc.

The MSD Minister, Hon. Steve Maharey MP, appointed Mike to an advocates advisory committee to the present Chief Executive of the Ministry of Social Development on Social Security Act issues and WINZ case manager policy development procedures. He has been associated with the recent Ministry working party on special benefits as a result of a landmark decision Mike won at the Social Security Appeal Authority.

As a legal advocate Mike has an integral understanding gained from his experience on how ACC claimants files are managed by ACC case managers. It is this case management experience that gives Mike the edge over most advocates in understanding the legal issues that are involved in individual disputes with ACC.

Mike has determined to employ and train the best people available to act as individual service managers for ACC recipients. The idea is to case manage the ACC case managers in such a way that if a file goes to review the correct entitlement information is at hand to ensure that fair and reasonable decisions are made by ACC.
